I have always been fascinated by movements and capabilities of the human body. I grew up in Malaysia, where I dedicated most of my childhood playing competitive badminton. My days were filled with hours of rigorous training and conditioning, all of which prepared me to win numerous state and national competitions. Shortly after representing Malaysia in the International Women’s Uber Cup Championships (equivalent to Davis Cup in tennis), I left to study physiotherapy at Northern Illinois University (NIU), through a sports scholarship. While at NIU, I received All-American honors and the distinguished Broderick Award (now known as Honda Award) in badminton.

My physiotherapy career began in Los Angeles, where I still continue to practice. As a strong proponent of life-long learning, I pursued an Advanced Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy and Biokinesiology at the University of Southern California and later on, an Advanced Standing doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences. I have been privileged to study under the tutelage of some of the pioneers in the movement system and functional medicine, namely, Shirley Sahrmann, PT, PhD, Vladimir Janda, MD, Karel Lewit, MD, and Pavel Kolar PT, PhD. Their profound impact on my professional life has inspired me to integrate various rehabilitative and pain science approaches into my current practice, as well as educating and empowering those around me.

I have been given many opportunities to share my area of expertise in the movement system to impact many clinicians both in the U.S. and internationally. I still maintain a limited practice at a clinic in the Los Angeles area (Pasadena) where I provide in-person consultations, when I am not lecturing or mentoring at hospitals, clinics and universities.
