Instructor : -Christopher DaPrato DPT, SCS, CSCS, PES, MFDc

Dr. DaPrato currently treats professional and NCAA athletes at UC San Francisco and UC Berkeley, while teaching in the Orthopedic Residency for their School of Medicine. He is a strong proponent and educator for manual therapy in sports and has presented evidence informed practices at conferences both nationally and internationally.  After receiving his BS in Human Physiology, his Masters in Physical Therapy from Long Beach, and his Doctorate from Temple University, he went on to become Board Certified in Sports through the APTA. His approach to patient care has become a blend of advanced level strength and conditioning with manual techniques, and received his CSCS through the NSCA, and certified as a Performance Enhancement Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.  When not working or doing podcasts, he cherishes family food time, international travel, and a good mezcal Paloma. Course Objectives:

• Describe the properties skin/fascia and its interface with the musculoskeletal and neurologic systems.

• Explain histological subunits of myofascial layers, trigger points, common referred pain patterns, fascial lines, and Janda’s concepts.

• Summarize precautions and contraindications when using negative pressure tools.

• Demonstrate appropriate and effective handling when using negative pressure with movement in upper and lower extremities to allow participation in home and community activities.

LOCATION : Align Physical Therapy, Las Vegas.

Course Objectives :

· Operate the precision MFD pump at specific mmHg to target specific tissue layers, and visualize the imaging research that matches these recomendations.

· Explain how to utilize MFD to assist with lymphatic flow and dysfunction.

· Discuss the basic principles of kinesthetic awareness and proprioception, and how MFD is used to improve movement efficiency to improve participation in home and community activities.

· Demonstrate in lab manual applications of MFD to treat specific sport populations including cyclists, runners, swimmers, golfers, contact sport athletes & throwing athletes


Upon completion of the Level 2 course, there is an opportunity to take a certification exam (optional). Exam components include 40 question mulitple choice design with practical as a lab portion.
