Course Description: 

This course teaches you how to combine manual therapy and movement techniques to assess, diagnose and treat movement dysfunction of the weekend warrior. The material is highly interactive with an emphasis on the practical application of principles covered in the course. Concepts utilized in the course include dynamometry, anatomical slings, neuromuscular chains, dual vectors, reflexive activation, movement with mobilization, and HVLA techniques. This is all integrated in to the treatment of the upper quarter in the weekend warrior patient population. At the conclusion the course, you will have a greater understanding of how to integrate manual and movement based assessments into sport-specific treatments.

Objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

1. Understand the importance of regional interdependence of the upper quarter and its functional relationship to pathobiomechanics.

2. Demonstrate and select appropriate manual, movement, and functional/sports specific assessments for the upper quarter.

3. Provide interventions based on the mobility assessments and faulty movement patterns observed relating to the key impairments obtained from the objective

examination.

4. Learn most current research supporting manual, movement and sport specific assessments and treatments.

Dr Jared Vagy, DPT, OCS, CSCS

About the Instructors :

Dr. Jared Vagy received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Southern California (USC). As a Doctor of Physical Therapy in clinical practice, he completed a one-year residency program and became a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist. He then completed an additional one-year fellowship program in Movement Science at Kaiser Permanente Hospital.

 

Dr. Jared Vagy has published three books and numerous articles on injury prevention. He delivers seminars internationally on the topic. Dr. Jared Vagy is an adjunct instructor of clinical physical therapy USC in the DPT Program. He is a mentor for both the USC Physical Therapy residency program and the USC DPT program. He is on Academy Faculty for the TheraBand Academy and is on the Editorial Board for ADVANCE Physical Therapy magazine. 

 

Dr. Jared Vagy served as a physical therapist in China for the Chinese National Track and Field Team, completed a rotation at the USA Olympic Training Center, worked with USA Track and Field at the Olympic Team Trials and covers international competitions such as the Weightlifting World Championships. He has rehabilitated several world champions, gold medalists and Olympic athletes. His assessments and treatments are rooted deeply in an understanding of the movement system. He is a firm believer in an active approach to rehabilitation and works with clients of all ability levels to achieve their maximal function.

 

If a course does not fill accordingly we reserve the right to cancel the course. In the event an instructor cancels and/or is unable to come for a course. In the event of any such course cancellation, the course of the cost (location of instruction, Handout fees, course instructor costs) will be refunded to participants. However, we always invite our clients to "Stay after Class" and as such, your JetSet Hotel and Package experiences will still be provided to you at their allotted cost. Additionally, for participants signing up and needing to cancel, please keep in mind you have until 30 days prior to class to do so (minus credit card / processing fees).
